Three road accidents; three deaths

THIRUVANANTHAPURAM: Three people were killed in three separate accidents which occurred in various parts of the district late Tuesday and early Wednesday. In the first accident, a 26-year -old youth was killed at MC road near Kilimanoor after the motorcycle he was riding collided with a car around 10.30 pm on Tuesday. The deceased is Subin, son of Suresh and Sunitha of S S Bhavan, Kadakkal. The accident took place when Subin was travelling to Kadakkal from Thiruvananthapuram. Though he was taken to Medical College Hospital, he was declared dead on arrival. The body was handed over to relatives after an autopsy. The Kilimanoor police have registered a case.

In the second accident which occurred at Kanjiramkulam, a 42-year old construction worker hailing from Tamil Nadu was killed after he was hit by a tipper lorry. The deceased is Shekhar, son of Chellappan, a native of Karur district. The accident took place around 1 am at the NH 66 bypass construction site at Kanjiramkulam. Shekhar was hit by a lorry coming in the reverse direction. Since the lorry driver did not see him, nobody could save him. Later, when the other construction workers came in the morning, he was taken to Medical College Hospital. Shekhar leaves behind wife Jayalakshmi and three children. The Kanjiramkulam police have registered a case.  

In the third accident, on the national highway at Kallambalam, a 19-year-old ITI student was killed after the motorcycle he was riding pillion collided with a private bus. The deceased is Mukesh, son of Prasannan and Sudha of Anchal. The accident took place at around 9.30 am when Mukesh was proceeding to Thiruvananthapuram along with his friend. 

A speeding private bus lost control and swerved into the opposite lane ensuing a head-on collision. Mukesh was thrown from the vehicle and suffered severe head injuries. Though he was taken to the Medical College, his life could not be saved. The body was handed over to the relatives after an autopsy. The Kallambalam police have registered a case in connection with the accident. He leaves behind a brother Mahesh and a sister Chippi, the police said.
