‘Avengers: Infinity War’ First Reactions to 30 Min Preview

First reactions to Avengers: Infinity War slowly roll in, even though the Russo Brothers said only a handful of the Marvel inner circle has seen the film in full. Digital Spy is the first outlet to share their social media reactions to 30 minutes of the film on the press tour.

“We’ve just seen 30 mins of #AvengersInfinityWar,” Digital Spy Film writes on Twitter. “Can’t say too much but it’s way ambitious, it’ll switch tones between different groups (the Guardians sequence had a very different, look, feel and soundtrack to the New York scenes) and it’s going to be funny. Still no Hawkeye!”

Their no-spoiler reaction is as expected. One of the most intriguing aspects of the film is seeing how all these heroes end up in the same place. The switching tones makes sense--as the Guardians of the Galaxy, Thor and Hulk are characters more prone to comedy. Civil War, which featured many of The Avengers, was a very serious film that left our heroes on uncertain terms. Then we have the world of Wakanda, where the film will need to reintroduce T’Challa, Bucky, Shuri and the Dora Milaje. There’s a lot going on and it’s comforting to know at least 30 minutes of the film is funny (before everyone dies).

Earlier this week, the Russo Brothers revealed Avengers: Infinity War will not be screened in full ahead of the Los Angeles premiere on April 23. Instead, Marvel will show press and fans the less-spoilery, smaller segments of the film at promo events to avoid any preemptive death reveals. The footage Digital Spy viewed appears to be in the first act of the film, though the exact placement of the 30-minute clip within the two-and-a-half hour runtime is still largely unclear, and will be until the film releases April 27.

Considering the Russo Brothers tweeted a letter kindly asking fans not to spoil the movie for others, it’s unlikely these reactions will include any plot details beyond what we already know. Nonetheless, the reactions so far suggest the film will live up to the hype. Check every reaction we’ve dug up on social media below. This story will be updated as social media reactions roll in over the next few days.
