Pramila Rani Brahma has said rhino population census in four protected areas of the state was done in a transparent and scientific manner.
Denying reports of fudging the numbers, Brahma on Wednesday categorically said the allegation was not based on facts. She added that technical experts were involved in monitoring the entire exercise.
"In the last few days, I have seen a lot of debate, discussions and reports questioning the rhino population estimate exercise. I want to make it clear that during my tenure as forest minister, the entire exercise has been conducted in a transparent and scientific manner. The findings were strictly monitored by technical experts," said Brahma.
