Malwa zone Shiv Sena chief, wife booked for cheating a youth of Rs 9 lakh

PATIALA: Chief of Malwa zone of Shiv Sena, Parveet Kathuria and his wife Monika Rajput Kathuria have been booked by the district police on charges of cheating under Section 420 of the IPC and certain Sections of the of Punjab Prevention of Human Smuggling Act.
According to the police, Kathuria and his wife Monika duped a city youth of Rs 9 lakh by promising to send him abroad. But they failed to do so.

The cops arrested Parveet on Thursday. He was later produced before a court which sent him to one day Police remand. His wife Monika Kathuria is yet to be arrested.


As per the complaint, the duo took Rs 9 lakh from Davinder Singh on the promise of sending him to Australia. They also handed him a fake job letter on the basis of which they manage to extract the said amount from the complainant.


However, after the family realised that they have been duped by the husband-wife duo, they demanded their money back on which the accused agreed to pay them Rs 4 lakh in November last year and the remaining amount was to be returned in installments.


The complainant alleged that the accused paid him Rs 2.20 lakh and later refused to give the remaining amount.


Davinder then file a complaint with the Senior Superintendent of Police who asked the Deputy Superintendent of Police (headquarter) to probe the matter. Based on the report submitted by the DSP (headquarter) the civil line police registered a case against both of them.
