IPL 2018 stats preview: From Royal Challengers Bangalore's sharp crests and troughs to Mumbai Indians' winning streak

There will be a lot at stake in the upcoming season of the Indian Premier League (IPL) for all, from players to owners and from broadcasters to spectators. Chennai Super Kings and Rajasthan Royals have made a comeback this season after serving a two-year ban, and therefore, it will be a fresh start for them along with the other six teams, all of whom have bought new players at the auctions this year.

Some of the teams will have a problem of plenty while others will have to extract the maximum output from the resources available with them. Rajasthan Royals and Sunrisers Hyderabad will play this year's IPL without their regular skippers, Steve Smith and David Warner, both of whom have been indicted in a ball-tampering scandal and slapped with one-year bans by Cricket Australia. Overall, it will be an intriguing battle among the teams as always.

That being said, let's look at how teams have performed over the years in the world's richest T20 league:

Mumbai Indians are the only team to win the IPL title on three different occasions – 2013, 2015 and 2017.
