Mangaluru: Anti Corruption Bureau sleuths nabbed a village accountant here on Thursday, while accepting a bribe for sanctioning land under a 94C application. Based on a complaint from a woman from Putthila in Belthangady taluk, that Putthila village accountant (VA) Harish Kumar was seeking Rs 5,000 for doing her work, the ACB sleuths laid a trap and caught the accused red-handed.

The VA had allegedly kept the victim’s application pending for the last one-and-a-half-years, and was repeatedly pestering her for a bribe, each time she approached him. She had already paid him Rs 3,000 earlier. The trap was laid under the guidance of Shruthi N S, superintendent of police, ACB (Western Range). The accused was produced before the jurisdictional court.
