
Telangana: Audit teams to verify distribution of cheques in Rythu Bandhu scheme

HYDERABAD: Audit teams are set to verify the distribution of cheques among farmers under Rythu Bandhu scheme. As per the guidelines issued by the government on the scheme on Wednesday, after the completion of distribution of all cheques, audit will be conducted.
The audit teams will verify the registers of cheques /instruments, acquaintance registers and other relevant records. Audit will be taken up in accordance with the usual procedure prescribed by RBI / NABARD/ CAG, according to the GO issued by agriculture principal secretary C Parthasarathi. Also, a monitoring and grievance redressal mechanism system will be established by the district collectors at mandal, ADA division and district level and State level, and every representation has to be disposed within 30 days. The scheme will be implemented by the district agriculture officers under the supervision of district collectors.
As many as eight banks will distribute cheques with mandal as a unit.
SBI (251 mandals), Andhra Bank (130), Syndicate Bank (38), Corporation Bank (31), Indian Overseas Bank (27), Canara Bank (23), Telangana Gramina Bank (33) and Andhra Pradesh Gramina Vikas Bank (35) will participate in the scheme by printing cheques for respective mandals. Rythu Bandhu is a scheme for providing investment support to agriculture and horticulture crops by way of a grant `4,000 per acre per farmer each season for purchase of inputs like seeds, fertilisers, pesticides, and towards labour and other investments in field operations of farmers’ choice for the crop season, beginning with ensuing Kharif season.
