Arunachal allocates Rs 6 crore to celebrate local festivals

Chief Minister today said the has allocated Rs 6 crore for celebration of all local indigenous festivals.

It has been a substantial rise as the amount was only Rs 1.5 crore earlier, Khandu said while attending the Mopin festival of the Galo community here.

"The fund will be disbursed to all the districts and then to all community based organisations," he said.

Khandu said the has also allocated funds to study the status of dialects in the state in view of the UNESCO categorising 26 of them as highly endangered.

The is ready to provide teachers to teach local languages in schools, he said.

Khandu lauded the elders of the Galo community for preserving their rich culture and tradition and passing down it successfully to the younger generation.

He said the state cabinet has approved creation of a new district 'Lepa Rada' to be carved out of district and it will be passed in the monsoon session of the Assembly.
