KARIMNAGAR: Taking serious note of Warangal and Karimnagar district prison superintendents allowing suspended ASI B Mohan Reddy and his wife Latha to go for a medical checkup at NIMS in Hyderabad without giving prior notice, Karimnagar ACB court issued show-cause notices to both jail superintendents and asked them to submit the explanation within three days. Latha, who is reportedly suffering from a kidney-related ailment, petitioned before the High Court for medical treatment. Mohan Reddy expressed his willingness to donate one of his kidneys to his wife.

On the request of the couple, the HC issued orders to NIMS director to constitute a medical board and direct Karimnagar ACB court to allow them to undergo medical treatment, with prison authorities providing police escorts during the treatment.

Despite the court asking the jail superintendents to follow the directions of the ACB court, they failed to do it and allowed the couple to undergo medical treatment. On Monday, they went to NIMS in Hyderabad. The NIMS director told them that the medical board had not been constituted and asked them to come after a few days. The ACB court took serious note of it and issued show-cause notices to both the officials.
