Concern over date of search panel’s meeting

The scheduling of the first meeting of the search committee constituted to select a panel of names for appointment of vice-chancellor to the University of Agricultural Sciences-Bengaluru on April 7, has caused concern in academic and bureaucratic circles.

They are wondering if it would amount to violating the code of conduct as it involves selecting a panel of names for a prestigious post. A bureaucrat, who did not wish to be quoted, observed that political pressure is bound to be there just when elections have been declared.

In fact, the Governor appointing V-C for the University of Agriculture and Horticultural Sciences , Shivamogga after the declaration of elections is a talking point.
