• RubberDucks: Visiting Akron rallied with two runs in the ninth inning, but Altoona held on to win in Double-A, 6-5. Right fielder Ka’ai Tom was 3-for-3 with a double for the RubberDucks (0-1). Third baseman Sam Haggerty was 1-for-3 with an RBI and a run scored. Akron starter Shane Bieber pitched six scoreless innings and struck out nine.
• Hillcats: Luke Wakamatsu led off the fourth inning with a hit-by-pitch, advanced to second on a walk and came home on a wild pitch, and that was all advanced Single-A Lynchburg (1-0) needed in a 1-0 victory over Down East. Lynchburg pitchers held the Wood Ducks to three hits and struck out 12.
• Captains: Jorma Rodriguez singled home Todd Isaacs with the game-winning run, giving Single-A Lake County (1-0) a 3-2 victory over Fort Wayne. It was the Captains’ second hit of the game.
