Lambadas’ concern over their safety

The Lambada elders strongly voiced concern over safety of their tribe and other development issues at a meeting with Adilabad District Collector D. Divya and Superintendent of Police Vishnu S. Warrier on Thursday.

The meeting was one of a series of such events being held by the two top officials with the Adivasis and Lambada tribes in view of their differences and to restore confidence among them. Leaders like Banoth Jalam Singh, Jadhav Ramama Naik and Rama Rao Naik pointed out that the administration was permitting Adivasis to conduct public meetings. These meetings became a platform for abusing the Lambada tribe, they added.

Mr. Warrier assured the Lambada elders that all proceedings in the meetings were being video recorded and would come in handy for prosecution in case of any law-breaking instance. He said action against errants would be initiated in case there are complaints.

The District Collector asked the Lambadas to have faith in the administration. “Bring your grievances to our notice and we will solve them,” she said.
