Railway Minister Piyush Goyal has denied the allegations of financial impropriety levelled against him by Congress saying that he has no conflict of interest in Shirdi industries.
In a statement Mr Goyal said, the judicial proceedings of national company law tribunal clearly highlight the transparent process adopted for turning around the company.
The statement said, Intercompany loans were taken on commercial terms and tax was deducted and paid on interests regularly. He said, Congress has the habit of repeatedly indulging in malicious campaigns which are full of factual inaccuracies. The Congress had yesterday demanded the resignation of Mr Goyal for his alleged links with the company which allegedly defaulted over the 650-crore bank loan.
Addressing media in New Delhi, Senior party leader and leader of Opposition in the Rajya Sabha Ghulam Nabi Azad said, before becoming the Minister, Mr Goyal was Director of that company and it got a loan of over 258 crore rupees from a consortium of Banks.
He said, later the company was declared sick for being unable to repay loans. Mr Azad said, it is shocking that later, the Consortium of banks waived off 65 percent of the outstanding loan amount of over 651 crore rupees of the defaulting company and settled the loan by just paying over 228 crore rupees.
