The UK’s biggest lesbian festival is coming to Llandudno this summer.

At least 650 people will head to Bodafon Farm in July for the 8th L-Fest.

The team behind the lesbian festival of music, arts and comedy decided to move to North Wales after struggling to find a suitable venue in the Midlands.

Dubbed the "friendliest place ever" by fans, organisers said they had “struck gold” with the North Wales venue which will act as a three-day home for lesbians, their families and allies.

Event Director Cindy Edwards said: “Every year we asked for feedback on our events. Many people had asked for more ‘fields and festival vibe’ when we were at Uttoxeter so we tried it with a move to Loughborough in 2017.

“But we were very unfortunate with the weather which meant the site was not suitable for many L Festers who are not seasoned campers or needed extra accessible features.

“So when we asked for suggestions for the 2018 event and we were told about Bodafon Farm, we fell in love – with the fields, barns, the sea and most important....static clean toilets!

“The location is perfect for our event. Bodafon farm is ideal, but also the whole town lends itself to being a place our festival goers will visit time and time again."

She added: “Our audience is so diverse from those who are happy in a muddy field with wellingtons on to those who like to stay in hotels, so with Llandudno and it’s 100’s of hotels literally within a mile of the festival there is something for everyone.

“The fact you can get out of your tent and see the sea is an added bonus. Plus our festival goers who do like a little luxury at will be pleased to know real static toilets are in place as well as hot showers.

“We welcome familes year on year. I remember one child saying “mum can we go to L Fest every weekend because everyone has two mums and no one gets picked on”. We think it’s really important for people to meet other like-minded families, and this is why kids always go free.

“There is still a huge demand for women’s spaces in the LBTQ community. We are looking forward to seeing friends old and new for what is set to be our best festival yet.”

As the UK’s only lesbian festival, L Fest 2018 is hoping to grow on the success of previous year’s events, which attracted women from numerous walks of life.

The weekend caters for all ages, with a diverse range of activities and performances over the course of the three-day event, with two stages and a packed line-up of acts.

For those hoping for a more relaxing experience, the barn will be transformed into a peaceful sanctuary with authors, poetry, dance, yoga, spoken word & discussion, cabaret & late night silent disco.

L-Fest comes to Bodafon Farm Park in Llandudno July 13-16 2018. Tickets are currently sold out.
