Amarinder Singh is distributing debt relief certificates, the activists of seven farm organisations on Thursday started an indefinite protest outside Mansa Deputy Commissioner office demanding compensation of Rs 10 lakh each to families of two farmers killed in separate road accidents while returning from protest at Chandigarh on April 3 for complete loan waiver. The farm organisations have also demanded Rs. 1 lakh each to three injured in these accidents occurred in Patiala and Sangrur districts.
Farmer Ajmer Singh(60) of village Kahangarh in Mansa died near village
Channo in Sangrur while he was standing on the road and a speeding vehicle hit him. Ajmer owned 2.5 acres of land. In another accident near Banur Surjit Singh(55) of village Kheeva Kalan in Mansa died whereas farmer Sadhu Singh Alisher, Darshan Singh and
Kanail Singh of village Kheeva Kalan sustained injuries. Surjit Singh owns 4.5 acres of land.
The activists of 7 farmer organisations BKU Ugrahan, BKU Dakonda, BKU(Krantikari), Krantikari kisan union, Kirti Kisan Union, Kisan sangarsh committee,
Azad kisan sangarsh committee while starting protest asked the state government to stand by the farmers and duly compensate the bereaved families as farmers lost loved while taking part in protest for debt waiver.
