Livelihood business incubation centre opened

A livelihood business incubation centre set up as a public-private partnership (PPP) venture under the Union government’s Aspire scheme in Tirupur at ₹ 1.12 crore, has started functioning on Wednesday.

The venture, came up as a partnership initiative of NIFT-TEA Knitwear Fashion Institute and National Small Industries Corporation (NSIC), was aimed at imparting training on entrepreneurship and also on skills related to apparel manufacturing.

Equipped with facilities

K. J. Sivagnanam, the head of the Centre, said that it was initially planned to train 800 people in the first year. The centre was equipped with facilities to train people on pattern making, stitching and develop designs for apparels.

NSIC chairman Ravindra Nath inaugurated the centre in the presence of Tirupur Exporters Association president Raja Shanmugam, former TEA president A. Sakthivel, NIFT-TEA Institute chairman C. M. N. Muruganandan.
