Minister of Higher education and Highways Kabir Hashim stated that he resigned from the post of General Secretary of the United National Party (UNP).
“I decided to take this decision for the reorganization of the UNP after the no-confidence motion,” he said.
A senior spokesperson from the UNP headquarters Sirikotha said that Minister Hashim had given his resignation letter a short while ago.
All posts in the party are expected to be changed in the upcoming re-organization of the United National Party.
UNP leader and Prime Minister Ranil Wickremesinghe has said that the party will be restructured immediately after the no-confidence motion against the Government and the Prime Minister is defeated on April 4th.
The party said that new officials will be named on the 30th of April.
