City medical student hangs self at BRD college

GORAKHPUR: A fourth-year MBBS student at BRD Medical College was found hanging in his hostel room on Tuesday. The deceased, Sumit Siddharth, was from 2014 batch. He was a native of Lucknow.


Police suspect that Sumit hanged himself. No suicide note was found, said police while adding that the body has been sent for postmortem. “Sumit Siddharth was found hanging from the fan in his room on Tuesday. He stayed in room number 119 at new UG hostel. He used to stay aloof in the college. We have informed his family,” said BRD Medical College principal Ganesh Kumar. Sumit had also skipped his MBBS examination on Monday. SP city Vinay Kumar Singh said they were waiting for the autopsy report. His family members have been informed and they are coming to Gorakhpur to collect the body, he added.
