PANAJI: The
Goa police on Tuesday decided to file a closure report in the
Felix Dahl death case. Canacona PI Rajendra Prabhudessai told TOI that the report will be filed on Wednesday .
During the last hearing in the high court of Bombay at Goa, Goa police had sought two weeks to file the final report. Then, last month, it sought an additional four weeks. The cops have now said that they’ve decided not to file the chargesheet, as after investigation, they haven’t found any evidence to prove the murder. Dahl’s mother had recently submitted a few more documents in the case.
The family of the Swedish national, who was found dead on a gravel road under mysterious circumstances on January 28, 2015, at Patnem, Canacona, had approached the high court of Bombay at Goa, seeking a direction to transfer the case to the Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) and to set up a committee to investigate the ‘large number of foreign national deaths’ in the state.
In December, Canacona police brought two suspects from Jaipur, Rajasthan, for interrogation. This was after one of Dahl’s family members submitted their names to cops. After interrogation, both of them were allowed to leave the state.
In her petition, Dahl’s mother, Minna Pirhonen, urged the court to set guidelines for investigating/reporting deaths of foreign nationals in the state. Pirhonen stated in her petition that, as an aggrieved mother, she continues to write and maintain correspondence with the local investigating agency, providing them with all necessary details so that the inquiry can be conducted in a fair and proper manner, despite which Canacona police has not taken up the investigation seriously.
She also alleged that though it had been more than two years and five months after Dahl’s death, it appeared that police personnel attached to the Canacona police station were reluctant to conduct a fair and proper investigation into the case.
