CM reviews situation in districts

Chief minister Trivendra Singh Rawat reviewed the developmental and law and order status in all the districts through video conferencing on Tuesday. While reviewing Char Dham Yatra preparations, sanitation, status of power and water supply and other aspects, the CM also directed the district magistrates to take special measures for curtailing road accidents.

Rawat said that sanitation should be accorded top priority in urban areas. He directed the executive officers of all urban local bodies to conduct inspection at 5 AM. The DMs were also directed to regularly review sanitation and conduct surprise inspections in the morning. Door to door collection of garbage should be strictly implemented, he stressed. Expressing dissatisfaction at hoardings blocking the view of the Ganga river, he directed the DMs to act against such hoardings Under no circumstances should garbage be dumped in rivers or water sources. Action will be taken against the official concerned if garbage is dumped in water bodies by any ULB.

The ban on polythene should be strictly enforced and action should be taken against those littering public places, added the CM. Rawat also directed all the DMs to regularly monitor the complaints received from the public on various issues.

Special attention should be given to the action taken on such public grievances. Stating that negligence towards the law and order situation will not be tolerated, he said that the police should always appear standing in support of the citizens.

While visiting police stations and Tehsils, the public should have faith that they are being heard. Rawat also directed the police administration to conduct regular campaign against substance abuse. Directing officials to repair the loose overhead power lines, Rawat said that immediate action should be taken in districts like Udham Singh Nagar where severed power lines lead to crops catching fire.
