CHENNAI: DMK working president M K Stalin on Tuesday accused that Tamil Nadu Chief Minister Edappadi K Palaniswami and Deputy Chief Minister O Panneerselvam were ‘enacting a drama’ by observing fast on the issue of formation of Cauvery Management Board (CMB).Talking to reporters at Madipakkam here where he greeted protesters over the Cauvery issue after they were detained, he said,

“As far as AIADMK is concerned, what they are holding is not a protest, but a drama in a servile manner because they haven’t got the courage to hold an all-party meeting to register protest against the Centre.”

He rued that a cabinet meeting was held from morning to evening, but it was not announced as to what transpired in it.Had they got any concern for protecting the livelihood of farmers, they would have adopted a resolution condemning the Centre for failing to constitute CMB within the six-week deadline as per the Supreme Court verdict, Stalin said.

Alleging that they were subservient to the Centre and Prime Minister only with the aim of surviving in their positions, the DMK leader said the Tamil Nadu government had not exerted any pressure on the Centre or taken any initiative to ensure the CMB was formed.Later, visiting his Kolathur constituency, Stalin said if the Edappadi K Palaniswami-led government wants to do anything good to the people, the only way to do so was to step down from power.
