Woman arrested after bizarre 'love-triangle' Clarinda hit-run
A woman who allegedly mowed down someone who is believed to be her ex-partner's new girlfriend, has been taken into custody.
The 40-year-old Doncaster woman was arrested at about 3pm on Wednesday and is being interviewed by detectives, police said.
Police had been searching for the woman following the alleged hit-run on Bourke Road in Clarinda about 8.20pm on Tuesday.
The wanted woman fled the scene after allegedly ramming into a blue sedan with a 54-year-old Clayton man and 34-year-old Clarinda woman inside.
The younger woman stepped out of the smashed car and walked onto the footpath where she was allegedly mown down by the same female driver, sustaining serious leg injuries.
The driver then allegedly tried to run over the man, but he managed to escape injury.
The female driver fled the scene leaving behind a damaged bumper bar and registration plates, according to Channel Nine.
The woman who was hit was treated for leg injuries and taken to The Alfred hospital where she was in a stable condition on Wednesday afternoon.
Police confirmed that all three parties are known to each other.
A nearby resident reportedly told Nine News, "it sounds like a love triangle".
The hit-run happened not far from a Woolworths Caltex petrol station on the corner of Bourke Road and Viney Street.
A staff member at the petrol station said police had reviewed the business' CCTV footage, but cameras had not captured the crash.
