16 teams compete in a six-month season that runs from March until September.

The eight highest placed teams then battle it out in the finals series.

The final will be played at the ANZ Stadium in Sydney on Sunday September 30.

Melbourne Storm are the reigning champions having beaten North Queensland Cowboys 34-6 in last year’s final.

Ahead of the new season, Storm coach Craig Bellamy says he has no intention of retiring with captain Cameron Smith at the club.

He said: “At the end of the day he's never asked me what I'm doing and I've never asked him.

“It's a pretty private and personal thing.

“Sometimes I'll ask him his advice or he'll ask me mine on footy matters.

“But we haven't spoken about finishing together. That's up to Smithy and then separately it's up to me."
