In yet another case of road rage in the national Capital, an Associate Director of the Hindustan Computer Limited (HCL) and his colleagues were brutally thrashed by a group of  youths, suspected to be heavily drunk, after their car hit the latter’s Range Rover near the KG Marg—Firozshah crossing in the wee hours of Monday.

The incident took place at around 2 am on April 2 when Associate Director Vikas Sharma was heading towards Paschim Vihar from Noida.

Vikas Sharma lodged a complaint after he was called to the Parliament Street police station by the Investigating Officer following an FIR against him by the four youths.

Following the complaint filed by Vikas, police have registered an FIR at Parliament Street police station.

Vikas, in his written complaint, stated, “Since I work as per the US timings, my shift got over late. I was heading home along with my colleague Kunal in my Swift Dzire car DL 3CAW 8961 from Noida. While crossing the Firoz Shah KG Marg crossing, a speeding Range Rover, DL 10CJ-1111, rammed into my car, leaving the front portion and the window badly damaged.”

He further stated, “Due to the impact of the collision, I had sustained injury on my leg and my colleague Kunal managed to pull me out of the mangled car. It was then that the four occupants of the Range Rover, three boys and one girl, all in the age group of 24-25, heavily drunk, held me and my colleague and started punching at me and my colleague,” said Vikash.

The four continued to beat them up till a passerby came to their rescue, Vikash added.

“A few minutes later, a passerby spotted us and on seeing him, the four fled in their car. The passerby dropped me and my colleague to the Ram Manohar Lohia Hospital where I was given treatment. I had told the doctor that I sustained injury on my right leg due to an accident and the injury on my face was due to assault,” Vikash said.

He also said, “Within an hour, two of the four persons, both Sikhs, came to the hospital. These two were not even there at the time of the collision.”

Meanwhile, police said that due to severe injuries inflicted on Vikash, he was taken to another hospital.

Police said that the four had left Vikash with a fracture in his right foot and injuries on his eyes and face and injuries were also inflicted on Sharma's colleague, Kunal.

According to Vikash, the two Sikh boys asked for an amicable settlement. “They gave a statement to the cops that a stray dog came in front of their car due to which they accidentally hit my car. Within a few hours, we reached a compromise that no case will be registered.”

Still under the shock of being thrashed and his car damaged, Vikas got the shock of his life the next day.

“However, they lodged a case against me. Those men did not allow me and my colleague to even go to the police at the time of the incident,” added Vikash.

Police on Tuesday said that they have registered an FIR under Sections 323 (Punishment for voluntarily causing hurt), 341 (Punishment for wrongful restraint) and 34 (Acts done by several persons in furtherance of common intention) of the Indian Penal Code at the Parliament Street police station.
