The former This Morning host - the latest celebrity to lend support to the movement for equal pay - blamed agents and TV bosses.
Fern, 60, told the Daily Express: "Equal pay is a huge thing. I have come to feminism late in life [but] it is ridiculous.
"If you are at the same capacity, level of training, years in the job and you are good at it, you should be paid equally.
"Women can bring in ratings. Women can bring in anything. It is not that. It is agents, bosses."

Fern started guest presenting This Morning in 1993 and later became its main host alongside Phillip Schofield.
She added: "I hated that when I left This Morning people were saying I had left because Phillip was earning more than me. I could never have asked him.
"He may have been, but he was doing more programmes and I was happy with what I was getting."
The mother of four, who is married to TV chef Phil Vickery, recently revealed that she was propositioned by a celebrity early in her career.
