Supreme Court former judge to launch water awareness campaign

V. Gopala Gowda, retired judge of the Supreme Court, will launch a campaign on the water problem faced by the people in the Bayaluseeme districts of central Karnataka region, here on Friday (April 6).

The campaign will focus on the issues related to water woes of Benagaluru Rural, Kolar, Chickballapur, Tumakuru and Chitradurga districts, according to Anjaneya Reddy, leader of the Shashwata Neeravari Horata Samiti, which has organised the campaign, told reporters here on Wednesday.

“Like Mahadayi issue of North Karnataka, the water woes of the Bayaluseeme region should be the central issue in the Assembly election campaign in the region”, Mr. Reddy said.

Attempts will be made to create awareness among people about the alleged injustice meted out during the last 70 years by the Centre and State governments, he added.
