Aussie boxer becomes first CWG 2018 medallist |
Australian boxer Taylah Robertson has become the first medallist of the 21st Commonwealth Games without even stepping into the ring.
She got a bye straight into the 51 kilogram category women's semifinals scheduled for April 13.
The 19-year-old Robertson got what is called the lucky Bronze medal due to the small size of her draw. India have not fielded any boxer in the 51 kilogram category for women boxers.
Celebrated Indian boxer M C Mary Kom will fight her quarterfinal contest in 48 kilogram category on Saturday.
The boxing competition will get underway at the Oxenford Studios tomorrow. India will just have 2010 CWG gold-medallist Manoj Kumar in action in the 69 kilogram category tomorrow.
