Shades of Blue, NBC's cop drama starring Jennifer Lopez and Ray Liotta, will end after Season 3, which starts its 10-episode final season June 17, the network revealed Wednesday.
"I have enjoyed producing and starring in this beautifully complicated world and playing such an empowering yet flawed character -- a woman, a detective, but, first and foremost, a mother," Lopez said in a statement announcing the final season's premiere date. "Now looking at it with a little distance, playing Harlee strengthened me and helped me grow into a more self-assured woman. It's crazy how some parts permeate your soul and change you forever and for that I am grateful. We crafted a poetic three-season arc on how her journey ends, which is true redemption. The way only Harlee could have done it -- the hard way, the road less traveled. I thank NBC and all the talented actors, writers, crew and producers for going on this journey with us!"
Lopez will stay very busy even without Shades of Blue. She's a judge on World of Dance, Season 2 of which premieres next month on NBC; is working on movies and a live TV musical version of Bye Bye Birdie, which is scheduled for sometime in 2019; and is doing a Las Vegas residency until September.
Shades of Blue stars Lopez as Det. Harlee Santos, a corrupt NYPD officer who turns FBI informant against her commander Matt Wozniak (Liotta), and then things get really twisty.
Shades of Blue's third and final season premieres Sunday, June 17 at 10/9c on NBC.
