Man accused of using 'sleight-of-hand' trick to scam South Yunderup shops
A Mandurah man will front court over scamming a number of busy WA stores with a trick that often results in him pocketing an extra $50 from unaware shop assistants.
Pinjarra Police released a photo of the alleged trickster, and said he seemed to be preying on stores based in the area.
"The offender enters the store and hands over $50 to purchase a small item," a WA Police spokesperson said.
"He then hands over a smaller note, requesting the original $50 back.
"He conceals the $50 and engages the staff member in conversation and asks for his $50 back, showing his empty wallet to prove the note was not returned.
"The staff member then hands over another $50 note."
Pinjarra police have summonsed a 53 year old man from Mandurah following two fraud offences in South Yunderup.
He will front court at a later date.
