Rly Board inter-dept championships end

The inter-department championships of Jabalpur Railway Board concluded on Tuesday with a felicitation programme. The matches of badminton, chess and cricket were played during the championship between different departments.

The championships began from March 9 and concluded with the badminton finale on Tuesday. During the felicitation programme and badminton finale, Chief Divisional Railway Manager Manoj Singh and Additional Division railway manager Dinesh Chand were present.

The final match of badminton was played between Railway Security Force and Loco Running. The matches were played between Atul Pratap Singh and Ateeq Ahmad of Railway Security Force and Surendra Yadav and AK Yadav of Loco Running team. While giving a tough fight to each other, Railway Security Force team won the match by 2-0 points.

Besides, at the cricket finale too, the Railway Security Force team won the match and bagged the cricket trophy for the third time. It is to be noted that Railway Security Force team is winning this trophy for past three continuous years. The cricket finale was played between Railway Security Force and operating team by 4 runs.

Jaswant Paraste of Railway Security Force won the Man of the Tournament and Best Batsman trophy, while Sachin Prajapati of operating department won the trophy of Best Bowler. Besides, Mehmud Khan of S and T and Anil Bhalerao of divisional security board won the trophy of Best Fielder.

In Chess finale, Ramesh Gupta of S and T defeated Sonu Kumar of S and T and won the champion’s trophy in chess.

It is noteworthy that the championships were organized by Chief Divisional Railway Manager Manoj Singh and Board Sports officer and senior signal and telecommunication engineer Susheel Namdev. The championships were organised with an aim to lessen the mental pressure of the railway workers.

On the occasion, Chief Divisional Railway Manager gave a cash prize of Rs 25000 to Board Sports Association for the successful arrangements of championships. Besides, the major contributions to make the championships successful were given by RK Awasthi, Vikram Jansari and Umashankar Trilok.
