YouTube office shooting: 'Unimaginable tragedy', writes Google CEO Sundar Pichai in letter to employees

In a touching letter, Google CEO Sundar Pichai expressed gratitude to all those who lent support as well as the security team who acted to keep people safe during a shooting at YouTube California offices on Tuesday.

In his letter, Pichai wrote confirmed that four people have been injured in the incident. He goes to say that the situation has been contained and the authorities are actively monitoring the situation and working with local authorities and hospitals.

The CEO goes on to write that over the coming days, Google will provide support to help everyone in Google family heal from the unimaginable tragedy.

According to Associated Press, a woman, identified as Nasim Aghdam of Southern California had opened fired with a handgun in a courtyard at YouTube headquarters. The shooting wounded three and ended with the shooter killing herself. The shooting is being investigated as a domestic dispute.

Sundar Pichai, the Indian American business executive, is the Chief Executive Officer of Google Inc. Pichai, who was formerly the Product Chief of Google, assumed office as the CEO on 2 October 2015.
