Delhi Assembly: AAP legislators accuse BJP MLA Sirsa of making anti-Dalit remarks

NEW DELHI: AAP legislators today accused BJP MLA Manjinder Singh Sirsa of making "anti-Dalit" remarks and heated arguments over the issue disrupted proceedings of the Delhi Assembly.

The ruling party legislators rushed into the well of the House demanding action against Sirsa for allegedly making "derogatory remarks", even as the BJP MLA denied the charges.

As the BJP and AAP MLAs continued to indulge in a heated exchange, the Speaker adjourned the House till tomorrow afternoon.

Before the adjournment, there was a discussion on a calling attention motion, moved by AAP MLA Rakhi Birla, over the "hardships" faced by sanitation workers of municipal corporations due to non-regularisation of their services and "lack" of other basic facilities for them.

The Aam Aadmi Party legislators raised slogans against the BJP-led central government.

Rejecting AAP's allegations, Sirsa said, "I was referring to an incident related with Guru Gobind Singh that the AAP MLAs misconstrued.
