A Hindi play ‘Panchi Aise Aate Hain’ was staged at Shaheed Bhavan auditorium to mark a grand closure of the six-day theatre fest ‘Navagat Theatre Fest 2018’. The play was brilliantly performed on stage here on Tuesday.

Directed by Navdeep Singh Thakur from Jabalpur, Panchi Aise Atte Hain is a play by Vijay Tendulkar. Panchi Aise Aate Hai is the Hindi translation of the original Marathi play Ashi Pakhare Yeti by Vijay Tendulkar, one of India’s finest playwrights.

Arun Sarnaik, the protagonist and narrator of this play, is a good natured wanderer who lives life without personal or material attachments. He invariably becomes an integral part of the lives of the people and families he comes across and becomes instrumental in solving their difficulties.

The story of the play revolves around this vagabond, Arun Sarnaik. The play begins with introducing a middle class family of four members i.e.e father, mother, son and daughter. All four of them face different problems of their lives.

Now, Arun makes his way into the homes of a middle class family in Alibagh, on an impulse, and changes the life of the daughter of the family. The parents are obsessed with getting her married; her social value and self esteem still depends on whether she finds a man to marry her or not, and finally, she must present herself to the prospective groom’s side in a light that matches their values and ideas of beauty.

But, when the groom’s family approves of her, she denies, as she has fallen in love with a run. How the things go after that formed rest of the story.

The play was beautifully staged at Shaheed Bhavan leaving the audience enthralled.
