China will 'fight back' against U.S. tariffs: report

China's ambassador to the U.S. said his country would "fight back" against the $50 billion in tariffs on Chinese goods that the Trump administration detailed earlier in the day, according to a CNBC report Tuesday night. "We will certainly respond accordingly," ambassador Cui Tiankai said in an interview with CNBC. He did not offer details. On Sunday, China announced retaliatory tariffs against 128 U.S. products. Cui also said the tariffs announced Tuesday would not fix anything. "It will hurt everybody including the U.S. economy itself," he told CNBC. Earlier, the Chinese Embassy in Washington issued a statement saying it "strongly condemns" the tariffs imposed by the U.S., and added: "As the Chinese saying goes, it is only polite to reciprocate."
