YouTube employee's Twitter account hacked to spread fake news during attack

Twitter said it was working to crack down on the spread of misinformation after a YouTube employee had his account hijacked during a shooting at the company's headquarters. 

A woman opened fire on Tuesday at the video-sharing site's HQ in the San Francisco Bay Area city of San Bruno, wounding three people before fatally shooting herself.

After receiving multiple 911 calls reporting gunfire, officers and federal agents swarmed the company's suburban campus as terrified employees huddled inside.

One of those employees was Vadim Lavrusik, a product manager at YouTube, who reported himself safe at 2:36pm local time.
