No departmental proceedings has been initiated against Additional SP, BP Ashok who sent his resignation to President Ram Nath Kovind on Monday alleging dilution of Schedule Castes and Schedule Tribes (Prevention of Atrocities) Act.

“Dispatching the resignation letter to the media and also making a video tape of it calls for stern action as it is a clear case of violation of Service Conduct Rule,” asserted a senior IPS officer.

The officer posted at DGP office when contacted on Tuesday, also termed the resignation as nothing but a `drama’ to reap rich political harvest.

``Even a layman knows that conditional resignation are never accepted. So, it is nothing but a high profile drama by Ashok to attract media attention and later gain from it politically,” the officer said adding that on Tuesday.

``Even a video clipping was loaded on the official Whattsapp group of DGP UP and Home Department but the officers concerned preferred to ignore it,” he added.

The officer also cited resignation submitted by another IPS officer of 1992 batch, Dawa Sherpa. ``Sherpa also forwarded conditional resignation and went to fight Parliament election from Darjelling,” the officer pointed out saying that when he failed to fulfill his political ambition, he returned and joined UP Police as he was aware that his resignation would not be accepted.

“Interestingly in Sherpa’s case, even the Election Commission allowed him to contest Parliament election when the rule said that anyone in government service could not fight election. Now, Sherpa seems to have gained for fighting election as his closeness to the BJP has facilitated his posting as ADG of Gorakhpur Range,” the officer added.

It is to be mentioned that BP Ashok is posted at the Training Directorate of UP Police in Lucknow. He sent his resignation President Ram Nanth Kovind and also sent a copy to DGP, OP Singh.

Ashok wrote that women, Schedule Caste, Schedule Tribe, OBC and minorities had not been given adequate representation in higher judiciary. He also raised the issue of reservation in promotion. Demanding the end of interviews in all jobs, he also demanded stern law against caste system. He later confirmed to newsmen about sending o his resignation to the President on Monday evening.
