BHUBANESWAR: The three newly-elected BJD candidates—Prashanta Nanda, Soumya Ranjan Patnaik and Achyuta Samanta—took oath on Wednesday as members of Rajya Sabha.

All three of them, who made debut in the upper house of the Parliament, took oath in Odia language in presence of Rajya Sabha chairman M Venkaiah Naidu.

All the three candidates elected unopposed on March 15 taking BJD’s number in the upper house to nine. The three leaders replaced Dilip Tirkey, AU Singhdeo and AV Swami.

Briefing reporters outside, Patnaik, also a media baron, said he would continue to raise the issues related to Odisha’s interest in the upper house.
