Uttarakhand Vidhyalayi Shiksha Parishad (UVSP) has set up a deadline of April 15 for its evaluators to complete the process of evaluation of answer sheets of board examinations. The UVSP called Uttarakhand board in popular parlance has set up 30 examination centres in different parts of the state for the task of checking the answer sheets of the class X and XII students. The secretary of the UVSP, Nita Tiwari told The Pioneer that the board has deployed about 5000 teachers for the evaluation process. She said that the process of evaluation which started on April 1 would get completed till April 15. After the process of evaluation the UVSP would start preparation for declaration of the results.
Laying emphasis on quality in assessment of answer sheets, the board secretary said that entire process of the evaluation would be closely monitored and no laxity would be tolerated.
She said that the evaluators have been asked to adopt step wise pattern of evaluation. Under this pattern the evaluators divide the answer in steps and award marks accordingly. The students get more marks in this pattern of evaluation.
Facing flak for being stingy in awarding marks when compared with other boards the UVSP officials are leant to have told the evaluators to focus on positive things in the answer sheets and be lenient in awarding marks to the students.
The anxiety of Uttarakhand board is understandable as an analysis of results of different boards clearly shows that the students passing out from Uttarakhand board behind others in terms of marks they secure. The less marks means that the students of Uttarakhand board face difficulty in securing admission in colleges, Universities and academic courses.
A total of 149442 students were enrolled in class X examinations while 132281 students were listed for class XII examination this year.
