Man pleads guilty to killing mother and daughter in Cranbourne school crash

A man has fronted court in a wheelchair and pleaded guilty to killing a woman and her teenage daughter in a horror crash outside a school in Cranbourne East last year.

Thomas Charles Adamson, 26, may have been more than three times the legal blood alcohol limit when he crashed into Ma Li Dai, 44, and her daughter Xinyu Yuan, 14, outside Lighthouse Christian College on August 9.

Thomas Adamson has pleaded guilty.

Ms Dai and her daughter were in their Toyota and pulling out of the school's car park after a parent-teacher night when Mr Adamson's Holden Commodore smashed into their car about 7.20pm.

Police previously alleged Adamson had a blood alcohol reading of between 0.12 and 0.165 at the time.

Mr Adamson appeared before Melbourne Magistrates Court on Wednesday in a wheelchair to plead guilty to two counts of culpable driving causing death and one of driving while disqualified.

In the days after the crash last year, Ma Li Dai's son Jake paid tribute to his mother and sister.

"My sister was very clever and very cute. I don't know what else to say," Jake told Fairfax Media.

"My mother is a very nice person and this is just so hard for us."

The family migrated from China seven years ago for work and lived together in Lynbrook.
