Two persons were injured when unidentified car-borne men fired several shots at them at local Gautam Nagar, Una Road, police said today.
The incident took place last night when around four to five unidentified men fired gunshots at two persons, identified as Amritpal and his brother-in-law Harjit Singh, while they were returning from Bullanwari, SSP Hoshiarpur J Elanchezhian said.
Amritpal and Singh, both residents of Subhash Nagar here, were injured in the incident, he said.
Both were admitted to a local civil hospital from where Amritpal was referred to the DMC, Ludhiana.
According to police, about dozen rounds were fired by unidentified men.
Amritpal is a witness in a murder case registered against one Binny Gujar, who is in Ludhiana jail. Police suspected that Gujar's supporters might have assaulted Amritpal to scare him.
A case under relevant sections of the Indian Penal Code and the Arms Act in this connection, police said.
