The Dow has traversed nearly 800 points in one volatile session

From peak to trough, the Dow Jones Industrial Average on Wednesday has moved about 800 points, highlighting the new regime of volatile trade on Wall Street. The Dow was down as many as 510 points at its nadir and is recently threatening to climb by 300 points. The session's gains will represent the best comeback for the Dow DJIA, +0.96% since early February. The S&P 500 index SPX, +1.16% and the Nasdaq Composite Index SPX, +1.16% also were showing sharp gains after threatening to stage an ugly selloff at the open on worries about trade conflicts between the U.S. and China.
