Ruckus in House over jhuggis' issue, BJP MLAs walk out

The Delhi Assembly on Tuesday witnessed a high-voltage drama when all four BJP MLAs walked out to lodge their protest after Speaker Ram Niwas Goel did not consider the request of Leader of Opposition Vijender Gupta for a discussion on the condition of “jhuggis” of the city.

As the House proceedings began, Gupta demanded the discussion despite Goel's assurance that he would allow it later, Gupta, Om Prakash Sharma, Manjinder Singh Sirsa and Jagdish Pradhan, walked out of the House in protest. Goel also slammed the Leader of Opposition for making “baseless” allegations that the Speaker was not allowing the discussion for the last 12 days on 'jhuggis' since the Budget Session of the Assembly began on March 16.

“He (Gupta) is lying. I yesterday received a notice from him to have a discussion on the condition of jhuggis,” the Speaker told the House.
