
HMD Global’s Nokia 6 (2018), Nokia 7 Plus and Nokia 8 Sirocco have been launched in the Indian market today. The company hosted the event in Delhi. Nokia 6, Nokia 8 Sirocco, Nokia 7 Plus are all going to be Android One phones as well, confirmed the company. The phones were first launched at MWC 2018 in Barcelona, Spain. Nokia 1, a budget Android Go Oreo edition device is already available in India for Rs 5,499.
Coming to the price and availability, Nokia 6 will be available in India from April 6 at a price of Rs 16,999. The smartphone will be available in both offline and online channels. Nokia 7 Plus will be available for pre-booking from April 20, while it will go on sale from April 30. Nokia 7’s price in India will be Rs 25,999.

Nokia 8 Sirocco will also be available for pre-booking from April 20 and sale starts from April 30. The phone will also be available on Flipkart. Nokia 8 Sirocco’s price in India will be Rs 49,999. Nokia 6 (Android One Edition) for 2018 comes with better specifications compared to the previous phone. There is a Qualcomm Snapdragon 630 processor on board coupled with 3GB/4GB RAM. The rear camera remains 16MP with a new Bothie feature as well as 4K recording option. Nokia 8 Sirocco is a high-end variant of last year’s Nokia 8, though it comes with the same Snapdragon 835 processor.

Nokia 6 will be the first phone to go on sale, starting April 6, 2018. It will be available from Nokia phones shop and outlets like Sangeetha, Poorvika, Big C, Croma and Reliance. Meanwhile Airtel customers will get Rs 2000 cashback on the new Nokia 6.
Nokia 7 plus will also be open for pre-booking from April 20, 2018 from Nokia phones shop, Amazon.in and select retail outlets like Sangeetha, Poorvika, Big C, Croma and Reliance. Sales begin from April 30. Nokia 7 plus will come with cashback offer of Rs 2000, but only for Airtel customers.
In terms of availability, Nokia 8 Sirocco will be available for prebooking starting April 20, 2018 from Nokia phones shop, Flipkart.com and select retail outlets like Sangeetha, Poorvika, Big C, Croma and Reliance. Actual sales will begin from April 30. Airtel customers will get 120GB extra data on Nokia 8 Sirocco. ICICI bank will offer a 5% cashback till May 31, 2018 as well.

Nokia 7 Plus, Nokia 6 and Nokia 8 Sirocco are all Android One branded smartphones. These phones will get Android updates for the next two years for sure. HMD Global promising regular and constant security updates for all these phones.
Nokia phones will come with face recognition feature, Pro mode on the camera.
Nokia 8 Sirocco is the company's new flagship phone with a 5.5-inch bezel-less display, which has dual-curved edge. It has 3D Gorilla Glass on the front. The device is made out of a single block of stainless steel, says the company. The phone's display is a pOLED.
Nokia 7 Plus is also announced for India. Price and availability to be confirmed later. It runs the Qualcomm Snapdragon 660 processor and comes with the triple Zeiss lens. Nokia 7 Plus will come with two day battery life, says the company.

Nokia 1 is the Android Oreo Go edition phone from the company. Price of Nokia 1 is Rs 5,499. It runs the latest version of Android optimised for a budget phone. It has 1GB RAM on board and 8GB storage.
'We are deepening our relationship with e commerce players, retailers,' says Mehta. Nokia Mobile Shop is also live for India. This will be Nokia's own online store for selling its phones.
Ajey Mehta is now back on stage. He talks about the response in India. 'Our business has grown five times,' he claims. However, no numbers for sales in India are given.
The company says it sold 70 million Nokia phones in 2017. However, what is not clear is the division between feature and smartphone phones. Company also claims 2/3 of their users who bought a Nokia Android phone are under 35. These are global numbers.
Nokia is number one worldwide in feature phone business in terms of value, says the CMO Pekka Rantala. He points out this happened quite quickly. "We are one of the few players with a great feature and smartphone portfolio," he says.

HMD Global India Country Manager Ajey Mehta is now on stage. The Nokia 6 and Nokia 8 Sirocco launch event has begun. 'It has been an extremely interesting and exciting journey,' he says. HMD Global came into existence in December 1, 2016. 'We didn't even have an office when
we started. We had to start our manufacturing.'
There's a lot of chatter around the Nokia 7 Plus also being launched at the event. The Nokia 7 Plus if it does come will be a mid-range smartphone and this one has a edge-to-edge display with 18:9 aspect ratio. Nokia 7 Plus also comes with dual-rear cameras on board. However, the pricing of this phone, if it is launched will be closely watched. Nokia 7 could come with a price of Rs 25,000 plus, according to some expectations.
So the big difference with the Nokia 8 Sirocco is the diplay which is now 5.5-inches and this pOLED one with dual curved edges. From the front, this might remind some users of the Samsung Galaxy S8 or Note 8 thanks to the curved display. Nokia 8 Sirocco however, still runs the older Qualcomm Snapdragon 835 processor. There is no Qualcomm Snapdragon 845 processor. Nokia 8 Sirocco also has a 5MP front camera, while the earlier phone had 13MP front camera.
It looks like the Livestream is now on. HMD Global has some band on stage ahead of the unveiling of the two Nokia phones.
While Nokia 6 (2018) and Nokia 8 Sirocco are being seen as a given, there is also speculation that the Nokia 7 Plus could be showcased. Interestingly the Nokia India website mentions all the phones that were showng at the MWC 2018 conference. Nokia 7 Plus has an 18:9 aspect ratio display and a dual rear camera at the back.
Nokia 6 (2017) is now starting at Rs 12,999 for the 3GB RAM and 32GB storage version on Amazon India. The 4GB RAM and 64GB version is still priced at Rs 16,999. But with Nokia 6 (2018) coming out, should a user buy the older phone, especially the 32GB variant since it has got a price cut? It should be noted that the new Nokia 6 Android One Edition looks more appealing thanks to the better and newer Qualcomm Snapdragon 630 octa-core processor. The older phone has a Qualcomm Snapdragon 430 processor. The new Nokia 6 (2018) is also an Android One edition smartphone, which means it will get updates to the next two versions of Android for sure. Read more here.
Nokia 6 (2018) is expected to be priced around Rs 16,000. The price in Euros is 280, which is nearly Rs 22,000. However, HMD Global is expected to go for a lower pricing. Nokia 8 Sirocco has a price in Euros of 749, which comes to nearly Rs 59,000. We will have to wait and see how the company prices this phone in India.
Specifications of the Nokia 8 Sirocco are: 5.5-inch qHD p-OLED display with negligible bezels, which is curved at the edges. Nokia 8 Sirocco has a Snapdragon 835 processor, 6GB RAM, 128GB storage, and a 3260mAh battery. The primary camera uses a 13MP Zeiss lens, while the secondary lens is 12MP with 2x optical zoom. Front camera is now 5MP, and not 13MP from the original Nokia 8.
A look at specifications of Nokia 8 from 2017. It had a 5.3-inches IPS QHD display, Qualcomm Snapdragon 835 processor. RAM was 4GB with 64GB storage. The rear camera combination was 13MP + 13MP, and there was a 13 MP front camera. Batter was 3090 mAh.
Nokia 6 (2018) edition comes with an improved processor, which is the Qualcomm Snapdragon 630. The previous Nokia 6 from 2017 edition had a Qualcomm Snapdragon 430 processor. So one is expecting a drastic improvement in terms of performance. However, the camera specifications remain the same at 16MP on the back and 8MP in the front. HMD Global has added a Bothie feature (use both front and rear camera at the same time) along with support for 4K video recording. There is no Portrait mode.
