Who Is Michael Finney? Carl's Jr. Employee Made Tourniquet for YouTube Shooting Victim
A Carl's Jr. employee is being hailed as a hero for his actions after a shooting Tuesday at YouTube's headquarters.
Michael Finney, 21, was working his shift as a supervisor for the restaurant across the street from YouTube campus in San Bruno, California, when a woman opened fire on the company campus, injuring three people and killing herself.
Finney told San Jose's Mercury News that he was in the bathroom when the shooting began but came out to find a woman in a booth near the front door bleeding.
“I saw the lady was shot in the calf,” he said. “Her friends were trying to put pressure on the wound.”
Finney used the victim's sweatshirt at first to try and help stop the bleeding, but it did not work.
“Everyone was figuring out what to do,” said Finney. “I was trying to stay calm and see what I could do. Everybody is shocked.”

Finney was then able to find a green bungee cord in the office of the fast-food restaurant and help the injured woman.
“I really don’t want to talk about it, all I was trying to do was stay professional, you know I have a job and I represent the store,” Finney told USA Today.
Finney told USA Today that he's working at the fast-food restaurant to save up for college and is considering learning automotive repair.
“I have an old Honda I bought for $1,000 and it always has a lot of problems but I try and figure out how to fix it,” he said. “It may take a while. I’m nothing right now but I want to work my way up in life.”
Newsweek reached out to Carl's Jr. for a comment about Finney's actions but had not yet heard back.
The shooter was identified as Nasim Najafi Aghdam. Authorities had not yet said what they believed her motive was.
