Directives issued to create transport vehicle norms

The School Education department has issued directives to form a committee at institution level to decide norms as regard to vehicles used for transporting school children in order to ensure participation of parents. Detailed directives have been issued through a letter to all the district collectors in this connection.

School principal has been made as coordinator of the committee, while district education officer or representative nominated by the officer has been made member of the committee. The nominated person will not below the lecturer level. Moreover, the regional transport officer or nominated officer of transport inspector level has also been nominated as committee member. Beside this, the sub-divisional officer of police and a minimum one parent from each section of each class has also been included in the committee as member.

Besides, directives have been issued to hold meeting of the committee once in three months mandatorily. The School Education department has clearly stated that action to cancel recognition of those schools, which do not follow the rules in connection to the plying of school buses, should be taken immediately. In case of schools affiliated to CBSE, ICSE and other boards, action to cancel no objection certificate, issued by the state government should be taken against non-compliance of rules.
