DEED contributes as candle company relocates to Maple Grove

The state of Minnesota is chipping in with $625,000 to help a candle company relocate to Maple Grove.

Illume Holding Co., manufacturer of Illume candles and other fragrances and personal care products, is investing almost $10.6 million in its move to a 288,000-square-foot facility in the Arbor Lakes Business Park. The company currently is based in Bloomington, and will be consolidating operations in the new Maple Grove location with further room to grow.

The Minnesota Department of Employment and Economic Development announced Wednesday it is supporting the move with a $450,000 loan from the Minnesota Investment Fund as well as a $175,000 grant from the state’s Job Creation Fund. As a condition of the JCF grant, Illume is promising to add 85 jobs paying an average wage of $22.21 per hour within two years.

Arbor Lakes Business Park, at 10801 77th Ave. N. and 7560 Zachary Lane N., is a project of Indianapolis-based Duke Realty, which plans to develop three additional buildings on the 24.7-acre site and market the remainder as build-to-suit and speculative space. Duke also is building a separate warehouse park in Maple Grove less than two miles away at 10655 County Road 81.
