It’s Mystery Picture Time.

It’s Mystery Picture Time.

Baby Boomers and older, too,

Take a look and tell us who.

We are expanding our horizons this time around. In addition to the main Mystery Picture (the team photo shot locally) , we are offering three additional Herald News archives photos which were clicked at an out-of-town event. Please share as much (or as little) as you know about any or all of these pictures. Especially names. Names. Names. We love names.

All four negatives for these pictures came out of a one box with the year labeled. This time, we want you to tell us the year. And then who, what, and where.

From the staged two-row Durfee team photo, I’m 99 percent sure about the identity of the guy with the knee brace, though I didn’t know the knee brace had been invented back then. The one person I’m most curious about is the young lady in the middle of the cheerleader picture. Some serious springs.

As always, communicate via Facebook (HNNow, me), email, Twitter, heraldnews.com, phone, old-school mail or in person.

Due to the rousing response to our last Mystery Photo, the 1960 Monsignor Prevost baseball team, we are including the complete IDs and additional team info.

Here are the IDs (left to right):

Sitting, Roger Gendreau, Ed Roseberry, Leo Demille, Rene Tremblay, Bob Poitras. Kneeling, Ray Gendreau, Ray Cousineau, Norm Fontaine, Ron Berube, Robert Phenix, Roger Dube. Standing, Coach Al Tremblay, Ray Gagnon, Bernie Petit, Ray Hetu, John McNerney, Brother Roland Cote.

Roger Laferriere of Fall River sent us an old-school mail message with lots of groovy info. He noted that he, Roger Sorel and Roger St. Pierre were absent when the photo was taken. Apparently, Prevost’s charter required that at least half of its students be named Roger.

Here’s additional info Mr. Laferriere provided:

• This was Al Tremblay’s first year as coach.

• Prevost tied for second in the Narry League, defeated Case in a one-game playoff to get into the Eastern Massachusetts Class B tourney, defeated Abington and Silver Lake, and then was held hitless in a loss to Milford.

• Hetu, Gagnon and Tremblay were all-Narry League first team while Phenix was second team and Berube and Petit honorable mention.

• Ron Berube was (and is) the older brother of Woody Berube, the Durfee High Athletics Hall of Famer, and was casual friends with Jackie Kennedy-Onassis.

• Brother Roland was also a teacher, debate coach and an excellent table tennis player.
