Police, hostage get compensation in aftermath of Mosman Park siege
A hostage and two police officers who shot a man during a siege in Perth almost three years ago, leaving him a paraplegic, have been awarded a total of almost $57,000 in compensation.
Daniel John Ashley burst into the Mosman Park property in June 2015, armed with weapons including a replica gun and a baton, taking his ex-girlfriend and four other people hostage before police shot him in the torso and face.
Criminal Injuries Compensation chief assessor Helen Porter said the officers and one of the hostages thought they were going to die and suffered psychological effects, including nightmares and anxiety.
