Accused in realtor shooting case produced before the media in Viziangaram | EXPRESS

VIZIANAGARAM: Vizianagaram district police on Monday arrested four persons on charges of opening fire on realtor Nammi Appala Raju at his office on March 24. Police ascertained that financial disputes were the reason for the attack.

The accused have been identified as Botsa Mohan, Karrotu Ramana Murthy alias Ramesh, Akasa Venkata Ramana Rangu Suresh, all residents of Vizianagaram. One more person involved in the case is yet to be nabbed, the police said.

Addressing newsmen, Superintendent of Police G Pala Raju said the prime accused, Mohan, who opened fire of five rounds at Nammi Appala Raju took the help of other four, including an Odisha man. Mohan, who were booked in a murder case and robbery cases earlier, was arrested by the Vizianagaram police along with three others, on charges of helping the prime accused in the crime.

Explaining about the case, Pala Raju said Ramana Murthy helped the accused in translating the language while procuring the country made gun from Odisha, Akasa Venkata Ramana dropped the accused on his bike near Nammi Appala Raju’s office  and helped him to fled from the spot after committing the crime.  Similarly,  Rangu Suresh helped Mohan by giving details of the sellers of country-made guns in Odisha. However, the Odisha man, who sold out gun to the accused, is still at large.

Pala Raju said that the realtor borrowed Rs 16 lakh from the accused for expansion of his business in 2014 and promised to register 550 square yards of land at VT Agraharam in Vizianagaram. He also promised that if he fails to register the land, he would pay double the amount within one year.

Recently, the realtor made registration of an extent of 650 yards of land at Gundalapeta village of Vizianagaram mandal in the name of Mohan. However, 100 yards of the registered land was gone for road widening. Irked with the incident, Mohan thought that Appala Raju registered the land intentionally and hatched a plan to kill the realtor. On March 24, Mohan opened fire at the realtor at his office.
