VIJAYAWADA: Aimed at garnering the support of as many political parties as possible, Chief Minister N Chandrababu Naidu left for New Delhi on Monday night on a two-day visit.During his two-day stay, Naidu will thank the leaders of all those parties who supported his party’s notice for no-trust move against the Centre and explain through power-point presentation about the ‘raw deal’ meted out to the State by the NDA government.

During his teleconference with party MPs in the morning and also while addressing the TD Legislature Party (TDLP) meeting at Velagapudi in the evening, the Chief Minister asserted that his visit to Delhi would focus only on securing State’s interests.“I will meet all Parliament floor leaders and explain the injustice being done to Andhra Pradesh. This visit is to put more pressure on the Centre to fulfil promises made to the State,’’ the chief Minister told the party leaders.

Stating that people understood YSRC’ politics of “opportunism”, he said the opposition party was afraid of elections.“That is the reason why its MPs are planning to resign on the last day of Parliament session,” he said.“We are demanding that the Centre fulfil assurances including special category status and provisions of AP Reorganisation Act made.’’The TDP Legislature Party unanimously resolved to abide by whatever the decision taken up by the CM during his stay in Delhi.

Meanwhile, YSRC Rajya Sabha MP V Vijay Sai Reddy alleged that Chief Minister N Chandrababu Naidu met liquor baron Vijay Mallya days after the latter fled to London. He also accused Naidu of taking `150 crore from Mallya towards party fund in 2009 and 2014 elections and said that Naidu owed an explanation to public.“If he fails to respond to this, it should be assumed that reports of Naidu meeting Mallya and getting party donations are true,” Vijay Sai Reddy said.

Lokesh hits back at Vijay Sai

Meanwhile, the TDP leaders took strong exception to the remarks of the YSRC MP. Rubbishing the allegations of Vijaya Sai Reddy against the Chief Minister, Information Technology and Panchayati Raj Minister Nara Lokesh sought to know if the YSRC MP was ready to prove the charges.

During an informal interaction with reporters in the lobby of the AP Legislative Assembly on Monday, the IT Minister wondered how a person like Vijaya Sai Reddy, supposed to go behind bars at any time as he was involved in several cases, finding entry into the Prime Minister’s Office.

Instead of demanding justice for the State from the Centre, the YSRC leaders were lobbying to get cases filed against them dropped, he said and recalled Vijaya Sai Reddy hailing the Union Budget.

Naidu met Mallya, took G150 cr from him: YSRC MP
